So, In this article, we are going to discuss which questions are the most important in PTE exam. The first thing you should know that speaking is quite important.
Speaking is the main component of PTE Exam
If you do badly in the speaking section this can also drag down your reading marks and it can drag down you listening marks as well. Because, PTE has what we call integrated scoring. Som in the speaking section you can get marks for reading and marks for listening as well. But, If you want to get a good overall score for PTE, you need to make sure you have a good speaking mark through proper PTE Exam preparation. And this means you should pay attention to oral fluency and to pronunciation which are important factors in your speaking score. Remember that content is not much important for speaking in the PTE and you don’t have to worry too much about your grammar as long as what you’re saying is understandable.
1. What are the questions in PTE speaking
Let’s now talk about the PTE and which questions are the most important. We are going to assign numbers to each question based on how important they are. Let’s start from the speaking section, the first question we have in the speaking section is Read Aloud. Out of the possible 5 number of ratings, we assigned the Read Aloud as 5 number of importance as rating. Not only it is important for your speaking mark but it has a lot of marks for reading as well. The second question is repeat sentence. For this question we also assign 5 marks out of 5 as rating. This question is important for speaking and also has a lot of marks for listening. You can increase your skill on the above questions as much as could practice with PTE Exam preparation.
2. Key question of PTE exam
The third question in this section is describe image which has marks for speaking and nothing else. But we still assign this question 5 numbers. It does have a lot of marks for speaking and the question itself is quite tricky. Students need to spend a long time working on it through PTE Exam preparation. The next question we have is retell lecture. For this question we would assign 3 numbers or importance, it does have speaking marks and listening marks but not quite as many marks as the other questions in the speaking section. For the final question of speaking which is answer short question. We assigned this question 1 number of importance. This question does not have many marks so you wouldn’t worry about it and doesn’t need to give importance while you are in PTE exam preparation.
What tasks are in Writing component
The next section I would like to talk about is the writing section. In this section you will have two questions. The first question is summarize written text. To this question we assigned 3 numbers of importance out of 5. It has quite a lot of writing and reading, so you should be paying attention to this particular question type. The next question that we have is essay writing. To this question, we assign 5 numbers of importance. It does have quite a lot of marks that go towards your writing section in the exam. But, you should remember that, there are a lot of other questions in PTE that contain writing marks as well, so don’t just focus on the essay writing.
What task should focus on Reading component
After completing the writing section, the reading section will start. Each of the tasks in reading be should be answered within 2 minutes to complete all the questions in Reading component. Usually the first question in reading will start with the question of Multiple choice choose single and multiple answer. We assigned these 2 type of questions 1 number of importance. There will be negative markings if you answer wrong in multiple choice choose multiple answer section. So, if you are not confident enough about the correct answer, then shouldn’t attempt and better to skip.
The next question is the Reorder paragraph and the most important task to answer. There is a scope to reveal full and good marks out it, if you know the right strategies and technics to implement on it. We would assign this question 5 number of importance. The next question is Reading fill in the blanks and Reading and writing fill in the blanks. Which are also important as Reorder Paragraph. Accordingly, we would assign these questions 5 of importance.
How to do better in Listening
Now let’s talk about the listening section. The first question in the listening section is summarize spoken text. To this question we assign 3 numbers. This question doesn’t just have listening marks, it also has writing marks. Let’s talk about fill in the blanks in the listening section. To this question we would assign 1 number of importance. To a task called Highlight Incorrect Words, we would also assign 1 number of importance. The last question in listening section is write from dictation. For this task we give 5 number of importance. Write from dictation has a lot of listening marks and a lot of writing marks as well. The problem is, this question is the last question in the listening section and the last section of your PTE exam. You need to make sure you leave yourself enough time to do the Write from Dictation question.
Time management is very important if any organization tells you that a certain question in PTE is worth a certain amount of points for example perhaps somebody tells you that Describe Image in PTE is worth 20 out of 90 speaking marks then this information is actually not entirely accurate. Pearson does not give out information about their computer marking system which assigns different weightings for each question. The other thing that makes it difficult to know exactly how many marks each question is worth is that different questions in PTE can often give you marks for more than one section. For example Read Aloud has reading marks and also has speaking marks which makes it quite complicated to calculate.
Conclusion of PTE Exam preparation
So if somebody tells you that a certain question is worth a certain amount of marks, this is based on guesswork you should be thinking of each question as being relatively important based on the numbers that we have given you in this article.
