What is PTE-Academic UKVI for UK Visas and Immigration ?
To do study or work in the UK you need to apply for UK Visa, at first you have to fulfill the minimum required level of English by taking an approved English language test like PTE-Academic (UKVI). Basically, PTE-Academic is a computer-based English Language test which is accepted for immigration and admission in the UK. The specialty of PTE-Academic UKVI is that it is accepted for Visa purposes in the UK. There are several language proficiency tests which are also accepted in the UK to study or work in the UK. But considerably, PTE-Academic is easier and popular in the UK for different conveniences. For example, IELTS is also accepted in the UK. But if you apply for a student visa then you have to attend IELTS General whereas, for education, you need Academic IELTS.

Why we attend the PTE Academic UKVI to study or work in the UK?
PTE-Academic UKVI is an officially approved English Language Proficiency Test by the UK office. Those persons who wish to work, study and live in the UK can attend for this computer based English language proficiency test.
You will have to attend PTE UKVI if you:
- Study below degree level(Foundation program, Pathway program or Professional English Course.
- The institution you have chosen is not Tier 4 Sponsor.
If you want to apply for a student route visa which is previously known as the Tier 4 General student visa then you have to attend for PTE-Academic UKVI test. Similarly, to study in at degree level or at above at any institution which is not Higher Education Institution, you have to show PTE-Academic UKVI score. At the same time for visa options like Start-up visa, Innovator visa, skilled worker visa, and Minister of religion visa, you have to for PTE-Academic UKVI test. If you are in the UK and outside of UK you can take a SELT (Secure English Language Test) with Pearson.
Basic difference in test structure between PTE Academic and PTE Academic for UKVI?
There is no major difference between PTE-Academic and PTE-Academic UKVI. Considerably, the test format, level of difficulty, scoring, patterns, amount of questions, and time are the same for PTE-Academic and PTE-Academic UKVI. But there is a difference in the test report like PTE-Academic UKVI report card is slightly different because as you have taken the test at an official PTE-Academic UKVI location. Basically, it is approved by the UK Home Office. But in Bangladesh, there are two test centers for PTE-Academic who conduct both PTE-Academic and PTE-Academic UKVI exams. But keep in mind, during your application for the PTE-Academic Exam; you have to choose the UKVI option. In your scorecard, it will be mentioned that you attend for PTE-Academic UKVI exam. Though there is misconception that PTE-Academic UKVI is comparatively difficult than PTE-Academic. But generally, there is no rational evidence for this.
Which test format should I take to study or work in the UK?
Whether you apply for PTE-Academic or PTE-Academic UKVI depends on the context and aim. If you are a student and are trying for admission into any university of the UK then you can easily attend for PTE-Academic. Whatever, you should consult with your desired study destination or University authority that which format they are going to accept. Basically, on the website of the university, it is clearly mentioned. If you want to apply for higher study like for bachelor or master’s program which is called Student route Visa sponsor, you must fulfill the requirement of English language level. Most of the universities set this requirement in their international students’ academic requirement site. Almost all of the universities of the UK accept PTE-Academic results for admission. For this reason, it can be said that you do not have to attend the PTE-Academic UKVI exam for the purpose of study or work in the UK.
Test Format of PTE-Academic to study or work in the UK?
There are basic three modules in the PTE-Academic exam like Speaking and Writing, reading, and finally listening. The whole exam will be completed at a single sitting with an optional break for 10 minutes before the listening part. Most of the time, the result may at your hand within one or two days. As the whole exam has been conducted before the computer that is why the candidate may feel free than facing different moods of a human being. The assessment of the test is unbiased, accurate, and digital. Most of the questions of the exam like MCQ, fill in the blanks, summary writing, read aloud are very common for any academic students or persons from every profession. The scoring is also digital. The total mark of the PTE-Academic is 90. Whereas, its equivalency of score is comparatively flexible than IELTS or TOEFL like 58 scores in PTE-Academic is equivalent to 6.5 in IELTS.
